Hand Painted Character

Hey there! Here I bring a project with which I had tons of fun during the process. I had recently been watching Arcane at the time and I saw this as an opportunity to bring myself closer to what hand-painted texturing could bring to the table.
The project was done entirely in Adobe Substance Painted, and rendered in Arnold inside Maya, hope you find it as enjoyable as I did!




My main focus, and what I really wanted to get away with was the face, I found it specially useful to reference popular 3d models like the Asaro head in orther to track and nail better the different planes of the face! Also taking some inspiration from stylized illustrations worked really well.
One thing I would have love to test is playing with the normals to reproduce a variation over the surface that makes it feer more strokey, surely for my next hand painted project!
